I've owned many guitars, some new, some used, some expensive, some cheap. Each had something special about them. The one thing they all had in common was that they were not built just for me. My favorite sounding guitar was heavy and the neck was too thick. The guitar I spent the most money on was a collector's Custom Shop guitar that I was afraid to play on stage for fear of damage. My stage guitars sounded great but didn't look so good and they varied in their ability to stay in tune. There are some great factory-made guitars out there, some of them custom-shop made and they are truly works of art. But all of those companies have to compromise. Why? Because they have to build lots of guitars to please lots of people. As a result, you may get 5 out 10 things you really want in a guitar - so now YOU are the one compromising. Having a custom-built guitar from Jane Fox means you get to choose everything - from the tiniest screw to the pickups to the color of the wood.

It Starts with a Conversation

The first thing I will ask you is “what is your dream guitar?” What’s in your heart and in your head about the axe that you’ve always wanted. Then we can discuss the details. What kind of music do you play? How will this guitar be used? On the road? Jamming with friends? Weekend warrior?  Then it’s types of wood and how they affect sound, the shape of the neck you like, paint and color, pickups, hardware style and color, knobs, pickguard, binding and inlay, frets, nut, tuners – everything that goes into the build is discussed. You may not know exactly what you want so I can make recommendations. Another way to prepare is to find pictures of guitars you like – mix and match, a neck from this one, a body from this one. If you can dream it, I can build it. Lastly we will discuss what it will cost – Your dream guitar may be out of your budget but I can work with you to build something at a price you can afford. In the end you get a one-of-a-kind guitar built just for you, that plays and sounds and looks the way you want. A custom guitar that will give you many years of happiness and joy.
