Dave Sabella, Luthier
I learned at an early age to appreciate many different styles of music. I also became fascinated with the instruments, always seeking out better sounding, better playing guitars. I realized that the best way to get what I desired was to build them for myself. With a degree from the Musician’s Institute Guitar Craft Academy in Nashville and a lifetime of experience playing and repairing my own instruments, I started Jane Fox Custom Guitars. Every detail of the guitars I build for my customers is carefully considered, from the type of wood to the tiniest of screws. Each of my guitars is handcrafted, resulting in a better playing, better looking instrument that my customer can be proud of and enjoy for many years.
Jane Fox. An Inspiration.
One day as I was pondering a name for my guitar company, I went downstairs and there, sitting on the steps playing her guitar, was my granddaughter Sandi. She is a wonderfully creative musician and artist and I was caught up in the moment as I watched her sing and play, lost in her music. Watching her strum chords and sing reminded me of why I became a musician, and I was inspired by her passion. She looked up and said “Grampy, my stage name is going to be Jane Fox”…it was so wacky, weird and out of left field that I immediately thought, “That’s what I’m going to name my company.” Sandi is the heart and soul of Jane Fox and the reminder to me that an instrument is much more than just a collection of wood, metal and strings, it’s the place where passion and desire and talent come together to produce something magical that can be felt in the simplest of moments.
